FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla- The Nova Southeastern men's soccer team (7-5-2, 6-3-1 SSC) looks to carry its momentum into Monday night's SSC Tournament quarterfinal matchup against the Tampa Spartans (8-5-2, 5-4-1 SSC).
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the NSU Soccer Stadium.
The Sharks got off to a hot start, winning six out of their first nine matches of the season ultimately leading them to securing the fourth seed in the tournament. Last season, NSU took down the Lynn Fighting Knights in their quarterfinal matchup in PKs before falling to Barry in the SSC Semifinals.
Kevin Rubaszewski and Markus Rokseth have been at the forefront of the Shark's offensive attack, leading NSU with seven and five goals, respectively. Rubaszewski was impressive in his last two outings, accumulating four total goals, which earned him an SSC Offensive Player of the Week honor. Rokseth has gave the Sharks a spark off the bench all season, scoring NSU's only hat trick of the 2024 campaign against Barry. Nikolas Ricardo has also been lights out in the net, accumulating 39 saves, four shutouts, and an SSC Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Pablo Marques and Rodrigo Lopes have spearheaded the fifth-seeded Spartans, leading the team with five goals apiece.
NSU had faced the Spartans once this season when they tied at the Pepin Stadium 1-1.
The winner of this go-around will advance to Thursday's SSC Tournament semifinal, where they will face the winner between Lynn and Eckerd.
